Grove United beat Solihull Sporting Men's Lions 4-2 on Sunday to remain top of Division Two in the Oakbourne & Coronation Football League.
The league leaders were dominant in the match and keep their two point lead over Wythall Lions, who also won last weekend.
Solihull captain, Gianlucca Loveridge spoke about the performance of his side. He said: "We came into the game as clear underdogs, given the results this season, but we shown today that we can compete with the top teams in this division.
"They [Grove United] did dominate the game but we stuck in well and scored twice and if we can replicate these performances for the rest of the season, the results will surely come."
Sporting remain bottom of Division Two without a point on the board, but are only six behind Shire Oak Bears (who lost 14-1 to Grove United earlier in the season).
Manager Andrew Baker also spoke about team morale following the defeat. He said: "The lads were excellent today, I'm delighted with the performance, the way we stayed in the game until the final whistle was brilliant.
"A huge improvement from the past two games. Now we must recreate what we have shown today against every other team, we can't just do it once, this has to be a regular occurrence if we want to remain in the division.
"The lads are playing with real confidence, something I haven't really seen this season, but always in training, so it's nice to see them playing well."
Solihull Sporting host Midlands Lions at John Henry Newman Catholic College on Sunday 12th February in their next league match, with hopes of getting a positive result for the first time this season.
